അതിരപ്പിള്ളി വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടമുഖതെ കെട്ടിടം കൗതുകമാകുന്നു.കടുത്ത ഒഴുക്കിനു നടുവിലും അതിരപ്പള്ളിയിൽ തലയുയുയർത്തി നിൽക്കുന്ന ഒരു കുടിലിണ് കൗതുമാകുന്നത്..1859 ൽ ഇന്ത്യ രാജ്യത്തേക്ക് നിയമിതനായ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സൈനികഓഫീസർ വില്യം കോർബി തൻ്റെ വിവാഹം കഴിഞ്ഞ ഉടനെ തന്നെ ആണ് ഇന്ത്യയിലേക്ക് നിയമിതനായത് . അദ്ദേഹം ഭാര്യയുമായി ആണ് ഇന്ത്യയിലെത്തിയത് . പ്രകൃതിഭംഗി ഏറെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം അതിരപ്പള്ളിയുടെ വശ്യമനോഹാരിതയിൽ അതിവേഗം ആകൃഷ്ടനായി . ആ വെള്ളത്തിന് നടുവിൽ സാഹസികതയും പ്രകൃതിഭംഗിയും സമന്വയിപ്പിച്ചു ഒരു രാത്രി ഭാര്യ സെലിഷയോടൊപ്പം താമസിക്കാൻ ഒരു കുടിൽ നിർമ്മിക്കാൻ പട്ടാളക്കാരോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു . എന്നാൽ പലതവണ ശ്രമിച്ചിട്ടും അവയ്ക്കൊന്നും ആ ഒഴുക്കിന്റെ ശക്തിയെ അതിജീവിക്കുവാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല .
